Privacy Policy

Language Learners Hub ("LLH", "we", "us") operates the LLH Tutor service at tutor.languagelearnershub.com. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

Account data. When you create an account we store your email address and a hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

Learner profile. During onboarding you tell us your native language, English level, and learning goals. We store this to personalise your explanations.

Conversations. Every piece of text you submit and every explanation the tutor returns is stored in our database. This lets us build your history, track your weak areas, and personalise future explanations.

Usage data. We track how many explanations you use per month to enforce the limits of each pricing tier.

Session data. We use a server-side session cookie to keep you logged in. It contains no personal data — only a session identifier.

How we use your data

• To provide the tutor service and personalise your explanations
• To show you your learning history, progress, and weak areas
• To enforce free tier usage limits
• To contact you about your account if necessary

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

Third parties

Anthropic (Claude API). When you submit text, it is sent to Anthropic's API to generate the explanation. This means your input and the tutor's system prompt are processed by Anthropic's servers. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing. We have enabled zero data retention on our API account where available, meaning Anthropic does not store your inputs beyond the duration of the API call.

No other third parties receive your personal data.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored in a MySQL database on our server. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. All traffic is transmitted over HTTPS. We do not store payment card details — payments are handled by Stripe.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Export your data — available from the Settings page
• Delete your history — available from the Settings page
• Delete your account — available from the Settings page. This permanently removes all your data.
• Correct your data — update your profile and preferences in Settings at any time

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 24 hours. Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics may be retained.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. It is an httpOnly cookie and contains no personally identifiable information.

We also use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our public pages. This sets cookies to measure traffic and usage patterns. No personally identifiable information is shared with Google. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tool.

Children

LLH Tutor is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. We will notify you of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
